Bal Harbour & the Design District: Miami's luxury shopping landmarks
Two very different experiences, both within 30 minutes of South Beach: the lush open-air grandeur of Bal Harbour Shops and the walkable, art-saturated Design District.
Bal Harbour Shops
Bal Harbour Shops, at the northern tip of Miami Beach, is one of the highest-grossing shopping malls in the world per square foot. Set in a lush tropical garden, it houses Chanel, Hermès, Valentino, Prada, Gucci, Saks Fifth Avenue and dozens more in a refined open-air setting. It feels distinctly different from a standard mall: slower, greener and quieter. Valet parking is available; a taxi or Uber from South Beach takes around 20–25 minutes.
Miami Design District
The Miami Design District, north of Downtown and east of Wynwood, has transformed into a destination in its own right. The same flagship names, Louis Vuitton, Dior, Cartier, Rolex, Saint Laurent, Tiffany, but presented in a walkable neighbourhood where art installations, concept restaurants and boutique galleries sit between the boutiques. During Art Basel Miami Beach in December, the Design District is at its most electric. A personal shopper or art advisor can be arranged through your dedicated contact.
