Komodo

A three-storey Groot Hospitality landmark where Southeast Asian plates meet a high-energy lounge. Dinner that becomes a party.

Komodo

Komodo is a three-storey Southeast Asian landmark in Brickell from David Grutman’s Groot Hospitality, and one of Miami’s definitive see-and-be-seen dinners. Part restaurant, part lounge, it blends a serious pan-Asian kitchen with a high-octane social scene that builds floor by floor as the night goes on.

The space is theatrical and lush, with a bar on every level and signature ‘bird’s nest’ booths suspended in an indoor-outdoor garden. Early in the evening it is dinner; later it becomes a party, with DJs and a glamorous, dressed-up crowd. The energy is a big part of the appeal.

The menu is modern Southeast Asian built for sharing: the Peking duck, the tuna and toro roll, lobster dynamite, dumplings and wok dishes are the ones to order, with a long cocktail list to match. It is generous, flavourful and made for a table that wants to graze and linger.

Komodo is best for groups and couples who want dinner that flows into a night out, not a quiet meal; it is upscale and lively. Book a bird’s nest booth and reserve well ahead, especially at weekends. It is about a fifteen-to-twenty-minute drive from the residence across the bay in Brickell.
