Prime 112
The steakhouse that defined South Beach power dining, dim, buzzy and generous, on Ocean Drive. Prime cuts and a serious scene.
Prime 112
Prime 112 is the steakhouse that, more than any other, defined South Beach power dining. Set in the historic Browns Hotel, Miami Beach’s oldest building, on a buzzy stretch of Ocean Drive, it has spent two decades as the place where deals are done, celebrations are had and the city’s most-seen faces gather over serious cuts of beef.
The room is dark, loud and electric: tables close together, a packed bar and an energy that builds as the night goes on. It is unapologetically a scene, equal parts steakhouse and social club, and the buzz is part of the point. Service is slick and the pours are generous.
The menu is a maximalist take on the American steakhouse: USDA Prime and Wagyu cuts, truffled mac and cheese, jumbo shrimp, sushi-grade tuna and over-the-top sides, finished with classic desserts. Portions are huge and the bill is high; this is indulgence by design.
Prime 112 is best for groups, business dinners and anyone who wants a high-energy, see-and-be-seen Miami night rather than a quiet meal. It books out well in advance, especially in season and at weekends, so reserve early. It is a short drive from the residence in the South of Fifth corner of South Beach.
