Start close to home. Watr Rooftop at 1 Hotel South Beach has the best ocean-view terrace on the Collins Avenue strip, with a full menu from brunch to sunset cocktails. Drift Kitchen & Bar serves a casual all-day menu on the ground floor, and the pool bar keeps things light for lunch. Breakfast at the hotel is one of the better options in the neighbourhood.
Walking distance from the residence
A short walk south down Collins brings you to the Art Deco district. Joe's Stone Crab on Washington Avenue is the Miami Beach institution, though it requires booking well ahead. Yardbird Southern Table on 16th Street remains a local favourite for chicken and cocktails. Ocean Drive is lined with terraces, best for a drink and people-watching rather than a serious dinner. A few blocks north on Collins, Lure Fishbar and Fi'lia by Michael Mina deliver a more elevated dinner experience. For sushi and Japanese, Nobu in the Eden Roc and Hiyakawa in the Design District are the top choices, and both are under 15 minutes by car.
