Pastis

The beloved New York brasserie, steak frites, escargots and Parisian charm, reborn in Wynwood. Easy, chic and all day long.

The restaurant

Pastis

Pastis is the Miami home of the legendary New York brasserie, a faithful transplant of the Parisian-style institution created by restaurateurs Keith McNally and Stephen Starr. Opened in Wynwood in 2023, it recreates the look that made the original famous: white subway tiles, bistro chairs, red leather banquettes and a curved zinc bar, all the easy romance of a grand Paris café set down in Miami’s arts district.

The menu is classic French brasserie, all day long. Onion soup, escargots and steak frites anchor a list that runs from a glittering raw bar to roast chicken, steak tartare and a well-chosen selection of French wines. It is comfortable, generous food rather than fine dining, the kind of cooking you can return to again and again, at breakfast, lunch, a long boozy brunch or a late supper.

What sets the Miami room apart is its setting: beyond the brasserie itself, a sprawling garden and courtyard sit under an enclosed pergola, a leafy, light-filled space made for the climate. The mood is lively and social without being a scene, equally suited to a relaxed catch-up, a family lunch or an easy date. Prices are moderate by Miami standards, which only adds to the appeal.

Pastis is ideal for couples and groups, and it is one of the best brunch tables in the city. Reservations are recommended, especially at weekends, though the bar is a fine place to wait. It is about a fifteen-minute drive from the residence, an effortless trip from South Beach for a taste of Paris by way of New York.
