KYU is the wood-fired Asian restaurant that helped turn Wynwood into a serious dining destination when it first opened in 2016, and it returned in 2024 after a full renovation, more polished but every bit as exciting. In the heart of Miami’s arts district, it pairs a live, wood-burning kitchen with a warm, design-led room of natural wood, greenery and soft light, the kind of place that hums from brunch through late dinner.

The cooking is built around fire and made to be shared. The Korean fried chicken, glossed in chili butter, is the dish regulars come back for, alongside smoky beef short ribs with a sesame crust and sweet soy, the cult-favourite roasted cauliflower with goat cheese, and the crunchy, herb-flecked “Krunchy Kale”. Flavours are bold and portions generous, so the table quickly fills with plates to pass around, finished by the famous cinnamon roll.

The mood is lively rather than formal: a stylish, smart-casual crowd, an easy bar and a soundtrack that keeps the energy high. Prices sit in the upper-moderate range, which makes KYU one of the most enjoyable ways to eat genuinely well in Wynwood without committing to a full tasting menu.
